Valerie Davidson is a designer and maker creating distinctive works in various metals. She has been making jewellery since graduating from Sheridan College School of Crafts and Design in 1984. Her work is classic in design, using simple shapes with rich texture and contrasting clean lines. She works mainly with sterling silver but uses copper, brass, and gold as well. One area of focus in recent years has been making pieces inspired by the drawings of her children. From bugs and cars to a variety of people portraits, these pieces are often amusing and always precious, especially to the young artists! Also on display at The Village Gallery are Valerie’s sophisticated gold and silver rings, brooches, chains, earrings and stunning art bowls, such as the silver and gold “trophy bowl” that is featured on the gallery’s brochure. Valerie’s work has been included in many exhibitions across Canada. She works out of her studio near Peterborough, Ontario.
