Tara was born and raised in rural Ontario, instilling in her a love for the outdoors and nature. Her success in the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning Art Fundamentals program encouraged her curiosity in the exploration of a new art form in the Glass Studio. After completing three years in the glass program at Sheridan College, Tara began at a co-operative studio called Glen Williams Glass. Her new studio allows her to continue creating in this challenging medium, along with six other professional glass artists. Her work ranges from blown goblets and sculptural component work to large sand castings and intricate flameworked glass jewellery. Her attention to detail and her love of experimenting show love of her chosen art material.
Of her work, Tara says: “The creative process in my art pieces begins by brainstorming, using the textures, colours and forms of nature as well as well as looking at artwork from the past and present. Working with glass is a science, you never stop discovering the intricate characteristics of glass. In spite of being better able to understand and control it, the art pieces are often unique and unpredictable. I have developed a love for the medium of glass and continually strive to improve my skills.
