Patti Fontaine

Patti is a Peterborough artist who has studied with various Canadian and American artists. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections throughout Canada and the United States. Over the past twenty years, Patti has been featured in solo shows and participated in juried group shows throughout Ontario, and in 1996, was a finalist in the International Experimental Art Competition for Mexico and North America.

An intuitive painter with a keen interest in the way that shapes, colour and light evolve into motifs that are abstract or pushed toward the abstraction, Patti finds that the use of various media exposes the energy within her work.

She uses layering and reduction of paint to create texture and depth. The juxtapositions of transparent and opaque paint presents inner dimensions which evoke worlds within worlds or objects within objects. Thus, Patti’s exploration with paint is an ever-evolving world.
