Gail Hancock

Gail Hancock has been making award-winning heirloom teddy bears since 1996. She uses fabrics such as mohair, acrylic fur and natural recycled fur from client’s old coats. Most of her bears are fully jointed, have glass eyes and paw pads of wool felt or ultra-suede. Gail’s bears have won many awards including:

  • “Best of Show” for her polar bear at the 2001 Hug-In show in Toronto
  • she is featured in the book “Bears Across Canada” edited by Donna Reiner, published by Bearland Press, 2002
  • her bears have been featured in the annual calendar of the Toronto Children’s Aid Foundation since 2002
  • Gail’s “JJ” bear won the Toronto Children’s Aid Foundation competition as mascot for the Foundation

Gail’s bears are not generally recommended for very young children; they are best enjoyed as works of art which can be passed along to future generations!
