David J. Hickey

David J. Hickey’s sculptures can be found in the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough, the Algonquin Art Centre in Algonquin Park and private galleries throughout Ontario.

He carves in stone, creates metal sculptures and often combines the two materials to create intriguing sculptures such as his “Fish Bones” series. David’s metal cut out wall sculptures often play with light and shadow. He was commissioned by the Canadian Canoe Museum Gift Gallery to create one such wall piece using their own unique logo. David has recently explored the use of “page wire” obtained from unused rural fences in creating bowls, free-standing tree sculptures and a variety of wall sculptures; these sculptures are garnering a lot of attention.

David currently resides in Lakefield but his art has been shown in galleries and at juried shows since the early 1980s in such diverse locales as Peterborough, Curve Lake, Boston and Rhode Island.
